Sage Canyon Outfitters Bunk House
  • When staying in the Ranch House, there is a $1,000 minimum package (birds & ranch access fees) PER NIGHT.
  • If you have a 2 night Ranch House & Bunkhouse Special, the minimum package (birds & ranch access fees) is $3000.
  • If you have already booked for the 2023/2024 season, you are grandfathered in for this booking ONLY.  Your dates for the 2024/2025 season are only guaranteed when meeting this minimum.
  • When shooting Starwars, Pistol Range, or Long Range, or any hunting of any kind, the Ranch Access Fee is assessed.

BAKEOVEN LODGE

(Day-Use Area)

The Bakeoven Lodge Day Use Area is located on the Bakeoven Hunting Preserve in the big red barn. The Lodge has one large conference room, kitchen facilities, and one bedroom with a bunk (twin over double). This facility is ideal for large group meetings, team lunches, and impromptu overnight stays.

RV HOOKUPS

$25 per night. Groups that are camping must still adhere to Ranch Minimums, and must pay Ranch Access Fees. Please be respectful of the land and keep your area clean.

Absolutely NO fires outside of designated fire pits.
Don’t leave trash out to turn into litter.
Don’t dump any food waste. We have many dogs roaming the property and would hate to have any of them get into anything.

Here are your directions to the best upland bird hunting trips in Central Oregon! Sage Canyon Outfitters is located on Bakeoven Rd. in Maupin, Oregon, a short drive east of Portland, 45 miles south of The Dalles, and 90 miles north of Bend.
From Portland: Take 1-84 east towards The Dalles. Take the US-197 exit (Exit 87) toward Dufur/Bend. Follow US-197 through Maupin. After the bridge that goes over the Deschutes River, turn left onto Bakeoven Road and go about 12 miles to the second big power substation. Sage Canyon Outfitters is just past the substation on the left. Look for our sign! If you see Wilson Road, turn around, you missed the turn.
Go to the big red barn with the green roof to meet.
Approximate travel time is 2 hours.
From Bend: Take US-97 through Madras. Follow US-97 towards Shaniko. Just before Shaniko, turn left onto Bakeoven Road. Go about 11 miles and look for Wilson Road. DO NOT go down Wilson Road. Sage Canyon Outfitters is the next driveway on the right just past Wilson Road. Look for our sign!
If you see the big power substation, turn around, you missed the driveway. Go to the big red barn with the green roof to meet.
Approximate travel time is 1 hour 30 minutes.

GPS obsessed? The beauty of a good hunting ranch is that it’s located in the middle of nowhere…So look up from your screen & follow the clues we’ve given you, or you will end up in a field (this is not a joke!) GPS will get you close…to our driveway, in fact…but at some point you’ll have to rely on your own natural sense of direction. Call if you need help!.

Here at Sage Canyon Outfitters, we take pride in making every guest’s stay as easy and comfortable as possible. We are a family-style operation, and require a bit more time between guests to prepare your space for you.

Check-in time is is at 1pm at the earliest. Please meet at the Bird Shack to check in, unless prior arrangements have been made.

Check-out is at 9am or before you head out on your first morning hunt on your final day. Please do not leave personal items in Lodging after check-out time, we prefer our cleaning team doesn’t touch/move hunters’ belongings, so please keep this in mind.

Deposits / Cancellation Policy

We try to be as flexible and easygoing as possible out here on the Ranch; however, we are a business, and cancellations can really hurt our business. We have a specific amount of hunts, guides, birds, lodging, and logistical help - when we book someone, it blocks out that space for other hunters. By paying a deposit, you are covering a single person’s spot in the event that you cannot go hunting. The following outlines deposits & our new cancellation policy. Thank you for your understanding.

  • Deposits (up to 4 hunters): $250. (8 hunters:$500, 12 hunters:$750, and so on). This is non-refundable in the event of cancellation.
  • Deposit per guide: Guide fees must be paid for in full at the time of booking. This is non-refundable in the event of cancellation.
  • House Rental: This must be paid for in full at the time of booking. In the event of cancellation, you will receive the cleaning fee back. ($75).
  • Bunkhouse Rental: This must be paid for in full at the time of booking. In the event of cancellation, you will receive the cleaning fee back. ($25).
  • Rescheduling: 50% of your deposit will be rolled over to your new booking. 50% will be forfeited.
